The Mid-Continent Tower has been an architecturally significant feature since 1918 when the
original 16-story building was completed. In 1984, restoration and remodeling of the building
added a 36-floor tower “cantilevered” over the original building, which was listed in 1980 as an
historic structure in the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the
